Membership Types
Membership types include Shipper ($0), Associate/Supplier ($400), Transload ($600), Shortline ($750) and Class 1 Railroad ($1500).
Associate Member ($400)
The Associate Member is any Company, or Individual involved in providing support activities to the Transloading Industry. This membership includes Brokers for rail, truck, barge and shipping companies, suppliers, vendors, equipment dealers, trucking, logistic or overseas shipping companies, trade associations, or other suppliers of goods and services to the transloading industry.
Transload Member ($600)
A Transload Member is any Company actively involved in providing transloading services from one form of transportation to another. These services may include rail, truck, barge or overseas shipping modes of transportation.
Short Line Railroad Member ($750)
A Short Line Railroad is defined as a Regional or Local Railroad per AAR railroad classifications. A Short Line Railroad may or may not have transload operations to qualify for membership. If the railroad has transload operations but also has railroad operations, it is considered a Short Line for membership purposes.
Class 1 Railroad Member ($1,500)
Class 1 Railroads as defined by AAR classification. All Class I Railroads will have 1 seat on the Advisory Board.
Shipper Member ($0)
This membership is for individuals responsible for organizing and transporting goods from one location to another on behalf of their organization. The shipper oversees the preparation and shipment of goods, ensuring they comply with transportation contracts and regulations. They also handle documentation such as bills of lading and invoices.
Shipper members receive the same benefits as other member types: reduced registration fee for Annual Conference, receive monthly e-newsletter RELOAD, access to Members-Only section of TDANA site (new in April, 2025) and more.
Shippers who are members of TDANA can deal in the movement of all types of commodities including, but not limited to:
1. **Agricultural Products**: Wheat, corn, soybeans, fruits, vegetables, and other crops.
2. **Energy Resources**: Crude oil, natural gas, coal, and biofuels.
3. **Metals**: Copper, aluminum, gold, and other metals.
4. **Manufactured Goods**: Electronics, machinery, vehicles, furniture, and household items.
5. **Consumer Products**: Clothing, footwear, toys, and personal care items.
6. **Raw Materials**: Timber, stone, sand, gravel, and minerals.
7. **Chemicals**: Basic chemicals, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, and industrial chemicals.
8. **Food and Beverage**: Meat, seafood, beverages, and packaged foods.
9. **Miscellaneous**: Specialty items like art, antiques, hazardous materials and more.
